Narrowboat and inland waterway insurance

FAQs - Narrowboat insurance and inland waterways craft insurance

Here are some of the questions we are often asked. If you can’t find the answer to your question, please call us and talk to our helpful, RYA trained team.

Are we covered for navigating interconnecting tidal stretches?

Yes, you can travel along inland tidal stretches provided it is only to enter or leave the non tidal system. Our inland waterways expert Michael Stimpson can provide individual advice if needed.

Can I pay by direct debit?

Yes, please contact one of our advisers.

My insurers have requested a survey of my boat. Will a BSS certificate suffice?

For insurance purposes the BSS certificate does not provide enough information and a hull condition report is also required.

At what age does a craft need a survey?

Once it reaches 25 years, and thereafter every 6 years. This can coincide with your BSS certification.
